CHERYL DELIO-Malham

FOUNDER, DELCORPO BESPOKE FITNESS® AND BESPOKE PERFORMANCE®

While sitting quietly in Brancusi's Atelier at Le Centre Pompidou, Cheryl Delio-Malham began to reimagine the personal training experience. As she gazed at the exquisite collection of sculpture and statuary, all made from similar types of wood and metal, yet each one singular in form and beauty, she remembered something from her days as a student at the Art Institute of Chicago: A unique, ideal form already exists within the medium. An artist merely frees it

The same could be said for a Bespoke Fitness® trainer, she thought. Welding her knowledge and love of art, with nearly 20 years of experience as a personal trainer, Cheryl has created a singular, health and wellness experience: Bespoke Fitness®. She designs individualized fitness programs, unique to each client, taking into consideration his or her goals, bio-mechanics and ambitions, likes and dislikes. Working with all fitness levels, and all ages, Cheryl's intensely personalized, custom approach allows her to sculpt and ultimately free the ideal form that dwells within.

She practiced ballet when she was younger, but she's always been an athlete. She believes the human body can move in infinite ways, with infinite intentions, never moving quite the same way twice. And she is driven to explore these ways as she provides the ultimate, singular Bespoke Fitness™ experience.

Cheryl believes that everyone has the ability to transcend their present limits to achieve supremely individualized fitness objectives as a means toward other goals: more confidence; more self-esteem; longer, healthier lives.

The pursuit of wellness is not a chore, it’s a benefit AND a joy that becomes a meaningful, integrated and lifelong experience.

Happiness, too.

For proof, one may  look to her clients. They include: heart transplant patients; cancer survivors; individuals who are battling obesity...and winning; clients with severe physical injuries; pre and post natal women; athletes of all levels and ages; and fearless members of an aging population who are defying the norms of aging in a quest for a superior quality of life— at every stage of it.

But Cheryl can’t do everything. Clients must be willing to make a commitment; to think about and engage with the idea of fitness in fundamentally different ways. Not as a separate, onerous daily or weekly task; but as something more important:

“Here, the pursuit of wellness is not a chore,” she says. “It’s designed as a benefit AND a joy that becomes a meaningful, integrated and lifelong experience.”

Cheryl’s certifications include: National Academy of Sports Medicine-certified personal trainer (NASM-CPT), PTA Global, Physical Mind Institute Pilates, Gray Institute 3DC, KBC-Kettlebell, ViPR/FitPro, Orange Belt Shidokan Karate, Gyrotonic® Level 1, New Leaf Metabolic Testing, Precision Nutrition-Nutrition Consulting, ISCA/Thomas "The Promise" Certified Boxing/Kickboxing Presenter, Forza (Samurai Swordfighting), Johnny G Spinning, Reebok Flexible Strength, Nike SPARQ, Functional Movement Screen (FMS). Cheryl created the group fitness class Workout Challenge for a chain of Chicago-based health clubs.  She holds a Master of Art in Art History from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Art in English and Art History from St. Mary's at Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana.

BRETT PAINTER, PT, DPT, COMT

BESPOKE PERFORMANCE® TRAINER • PHYSICAL THERAPIST • DRY NEEDLING SPECIALIST

Brett’s passion for sport and wellness has driven his success as a trainer and physical therapist.

From an early age Brett found himself enamored with physical fitness as a means to improve performance and never looked back. He also was a physical therapy patient on many occasions which sparked his interest in rehabilitation.

“Everyone has an inner athlete. Everyone. One of my jobs is to help clients release it.”

Brett has experienced fighting back from his own devastating knee injury and has helped other athletes return to the field during his time as a team physical therapist for DePaul University's Division I Athletics. This unique perspective enables Brett to push his clients towards gains in strength, endurance, power, and agility while improving their movement inefficiencies and reducing their risk for injury.

“Everyone has an inner athlete,” Brett says. “One of my jobs is to help people believe it, and to release it.” This belief influences his approach with each and every client. Brett considers individual client needs and goals; identifying and addressing strengths or weaknesses to help locate that “inner athlete”.

His infectious positive energy, attention to detail, and a humble, profound sense of humanity speak volumes of Brett’s character: as person and a therapist.

When Brett is not seeing patients at Northwestern; or treating and training clients at Delcorpo, he can be seen firing his signature long-distance “buzzer-beaters” on the nearest basketball court.

Brett earned a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Northwestern University; and a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois. Additional certifications include: Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist from the Ola Grimsby Institute, Trigger Point Dry Needling Level I and II, Personalized Blood Flow Restriction. At age 13, Ryan discovered strength training and his life would be changed forever. The results from fat loss and increased strength motivated and inspired him; and he slowly began to create a positive view of himself.

Ryan realized he had a deep affinity for strength training and he began working at a local gym at age 15.

He attended Penn State University for his Bachelor’s in Kinesiology, where he worked as a student coach for the Penn State Nittany Lions football team, as well as numerous other sports. Ryan holds a Master’s of Science in Sports Management from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina.

Ryan’s coaching journey spans nine years across Division I college athletics, with stops along the way at Tennessee State University, Vanderbilt, Robert Morris University, The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and more recently, DePaul University. He has worked at Power 5 universities, aided in the training of multiple professional athletes; and has been mentored by NFL strength and conditioning coaches.

Outside of college athletics, Ryan has used his experience to inform and improve the lives of numerous clients who want to be more comfortable in their own skin. DONNIE LARSON, MSN, RN

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING SPECIALIST •PRECISION NUTRITION COACH • HEALTH & WELLNESS CONSULTANT

Donnie’s passion for overall fitness, bodybuilding, and strength training began at the age of sixteen when he started training at Gold’s Gym of Orland Park.

He graduated from St. Xavier University in Chicago with a Bachelors of Arts Degree, and in 2003 at the age of 25, he landed his dream job as a firefighter/paramedic for a large Chicago metropolitan fire department. This career fulfilled his life’s purpose to help others, and, it required maintaining a high level of strength and conditioning due to the physical demands of firefighting.  Donnie was able to use his passion for fitness within the department by joining the peer fitness team where he received his certification as an ACE Peer Fitness Trainer.

He was responsible for conducting department fitness evaluations and developing exercise and wellness programs based upon attainment of employee health goals.

Continuing his education, Donnie graduated sum cum laude from Rush University’s Masters of Science in Nursing program in 2012, with published results from an Institutional Review Board approved Capstone Project.  He led a 3-person team that implemented a mobility-based intervention program to examine its effect on patient outcomes and length of stay.  The team’s interventions demonstrated that when an early mobility program was initiated and maintained, functional decline decreased and patient outcomes improved.

“The body achieves what the mind believes.”

In 2016, during an emergency response, Donnie sustained a lower back injury that required a spinal fusion surgery to correct. His blood work and physical assessment also revealed that his endocrine and nervous systems were over-stressed and under- recovered.  His spinal surgery was a partial success; however, after physical therapy, he was unable to meet the heavy lifting demands of the fire department, so the surgeon placed him on disability.  Donnie had to contend with losing a career he so passionately loved, in addition to learning how to heal his body after years of un-managed stress and inconsistent sleep at the fire department.

This is where Donnie’s deep journey into fitness, health, and wellness began six years ago and it has led him here today. With patience and compassionate curiosity, Donnie will collaborate and co-create a fitness program that supports your journey towards safely and efficiently reaching your visions and goals.  More important, he will help empower you to develop a fit, healthy, energetic, and mindful lifestyle as well as instilling the awareness, ability, and self-confidence to maintain it.  Donnie specializes in strength and conditioning, body composition, fat loss, nutritional guidance, sleep hygiene, and stress management. To learn more more about Donnie, visit his site.

Jon Williams, PT, DPT, COMT, CMTPT, TPI

BESPOKE PERFORMANCE® TRAINER • PHYSICAL THERAPIST • DRY NEEDLING SPECIALIST • GOLF REHABILITATION SPECIALIST

As the youngest of a family of three, Jon grew up with a tough but loving older brother who never let him have an “easy” win when they played sports together. Through those memorable family experiences, he learned from a very early age about the individual effort and dedication it takes to find success and achieve one’s goals.

As a multi-sport athlete who played year-round, he came to recognize and understand the demands that physical activity puts on the body. And, as important, he knows how difficult and dispiriting it can be when one is not able to perform at a desired capacity. This deep, personal insight informs the work he does — everyday — as an intuitive, compassionate physical therapist.

“I try to really get to know my patients and know what their goals are. Whether they want to improve performance in sports, run a marathon, play with their kids, or just get through the day without pain, having a target to work towards helps me to build the proper rehab program for that individual.”

Throughout his PT career, Jon has treated a multitude of orthopedic and sports related injuries. He has experience treating chronic pain, work related injuries, pre and post-operative rehab, runners/endurance athletes, and many others. He has worked with athletes at all levels including youth level, “weekend warriors,” and top collegiate and professional athletes.

He treated athletes for all sports in the Roosevelt University Athletic Department and is the team physical therapist for the Chicago Fire FC — an MLS post he has held since 2015.

Jon attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison where he received his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology before earning a physical therapy doctorate at the University of Illinois – Chicago. His advanced training and certifications include: dry needling certification from Myopain Seminars, manual therapy certification from Ola Grimsby Institute, Titleist Performance Institute (certified), and blood flow restriction training through Owens Recovery Science.

In addition to his physical therapy practice, Jon is a Bespoke Performance® Trainer and works with clients at all levels to improve their performance on the field/court and to help people achieve their individual fitness and wellness goals.

Ted Kurlinkus, PT, DPT, OCS, SCS, CSCS, FAAOMPT

CLINICAL SPECIALIST IN ORTHOPEDICS & SPORTS • STRENGTH & CONDITIONING SPECIALIST • FELLOW OF THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF ORTHOPEDIC MANUAL PHYSICAL THERAPISTS

Ted Kurlinkus is a sports and orthopedic physical therapist, and owner of TK Physical Therapy and Sports Performance.

He has an abiding interest in acute and chronic orthopedic and sports injuries— an interest that began after sustaining several significant injuries as a high school athlete, which led him through his own rehabilitation experiences.

It was the sum of those personal experiences that inspired him to become a PT.

“I remember the fear I experienced about not being able to play the sports I loved again,” he says. “As a PT, I want to be able to help my patients get back to the things that they love to do.”

The thing he loves most about being a PT is building relationships with patients; and seeing them from the very start to the very end of their treatment.

Understanding the need for and value of personalized treatment, he approaches each patient as a “unique individual and not a set of diagnoses.”

“Every patient deserves an individualized plan developed specifically for them and not a canned approach based on what their problem may be.”

He holds dual board certifications as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS). Ted has also been recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists.

In addition to his clinical practice, he is a clinical mentor for the Northwestern University Fellowship in Advanced Orthopedic Physical Therapy Practice, Research, and Education as well as the Northwestern Division 1 Sports Fellowship.

He previously served as Team Physical Therapist for DePaul University Athletics from 2018-2021.
